The legendary Shabba Ranks will take the stage on May 6th in NYC! Once dancehall’s brightest star, Ranks has not made very many public appearances in the US in the last decade. He will be opening for Buju Banton, after Tony Matterhorn warms up the crowd, at the Pre-Mother’s Day “Driver” Concert.
Shabba Ranks was the first dancehall artist to top international music charts, as well as the first to sign with a major label in the US. He received regular radio play in the early 90’s, and went on to score 2 Grammy awards for his music. This concert is a super rare and special treat for those who will be lucky enough to make it to NYC that night.
Buju Banton will be performing classic hits as well as new bangers from his new album, Too Bad, which was nominated for a Grammy this year.
Tony Matterhorn, notorious soundsystem and soundclash dj and international entertainer, will kick off the night with his explosive hits, “Dutty Wine” and “Goodas Fi Dem”.
